MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Illinois College women's soccer squad scored five unanswered goals and blew past Monmouth, 5-1, in a Midwest Conference match on Tuesday at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park.
The victory moved IC to 9-6-2 overall and 5-1-0 in MWC play. Monmouth dropped to 6-5-2 and 2-2-1.

The Fighting Scots jumped ahead with a goal just over 23 minutes into the match, but that would be the only time Monmouth would find the net for the remainder of the match.Â
IC got the equalizer with under two minutes remaining in the first half when
Olivia Hulsey scored off an assist from
Abbi Renwick. The teams went into halftime tied at one.
The second period was all IC as the Lady Blues scored four straight times to put the match away.
Katy Adler put IC in front for good just over 30 seconds into the period with her team-leading ninth goal of the year.
Abby Love recorded the assist on the play.
Holly Morehart found the net four minutes later when she scored off an assist from Adler to make it 3-1.
IC's
Aliza Rodriguez iced the match for the Lady Blues with a pair of goals in the waning minutes. Her first tally came at the 70:58 mark off an assist from Adler, and the second came unassisted at the 89:22 mark.
The Lady Blues took 24 shots to Monmouth's 15 on the day. Adler led the attack with five, while
Lexi Van Dyke added four and
Olivia Ralston chipped in with three.
Stella Gonzalez played the full 90 minutes in goal for IC and recorded nine saves in the contest.

The 5-1-0 start to the Midwest Conference season is the best league start in program history… IC's five league wins ties the school record for conference wins in a season with the 1994 and 2016 teams… the Lady Blues' nine overall wins are the third-most in program history… Adler's nine goals are the sixth-best single-season total in school history, while her seven assists and 25 points are both tied for third.
