DECATUR, Ill- The Illinois College volleyball team went 1-1 on the second day of the 2024 Millikin Invitational after winning in three sets to Franklin College and dropping a match to Hanover College.
The split moves the Lady Blues to 6-8 on the season as they gear up before conference play in a few weeks.
Match 1: IC 3 Franklin 0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-16)
Ligaya Garibay was once again the leader for the Lady Blues, finishing the match with 16 kills and a .464 hitting percentage. Along with 16 kills, Garibay ended with 15 digs and 4 serving aces. Along with Garibay,
Laura Kaiser and
Ella Ausmus got in the action with a combined 15 kills for IC.
Kahli O'Neal ended the match with 20 assists and
Summer Brandis contributed with 18 herself.
Illinois College forced Franklin to a .076 hitting percentage in the match and only tallying 16 kills in the three sets.
Match 2: IC 0 Hanover 3 (22-25, 19-25, 16-25)
A different match for the Lady Blues as they were held to a .021 hitting percentage in the match ending with 29 attacking errors.
Riley Drake led the Lady Blues in kills as she ended the match with eight kills and seven digs.
Ligaya Garibay added seven kills and ten digs herself in the match.
The difference in this match came down to the attacking errors as IC had 29 while Hanover only had 13 in the match.

The Lady Blues have one more tournament next week as they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana for the Rose-Hulman Tournament where they will take on the host on Friday at 7:30PM.
