MT. VERNON/GRINNELL, Iowa – The Illinois College women's tennis squad dropped a pair of matches on Saturday during the Midwest Conference opening weekend.
IC dropped a 5-2 decision at Cornell in the morning match and then fell at Grinnell in the afternoon, 7-0.
Cornell 5 IC 2
The Rams opened the day by securing the doubles point with a sweep of all three matches.
In singles play, the Lady Blues secured victories from
Sophie Muir at No. 3 and
Madison Eastin at No. 5 but Cornell took the remaining four singles matches to claim the victory.
Grinnell 7 IC 0
The Pioneers shut out IC, sweeping all three doubles matches before winning all six singles tilts.
Eastin led the Lady Blues, taking her match at No. 5 to a tiebreaker in the second set.

The Lady Blues will be in action on Thursday when they travel to Southwestern Illinois College for a non-conference match. The first serve will be at 3:00 p.m. in Belleville, Ill.
