JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College football squad posted its fifth consecutive victory, swamping Cornell, 42-14, in a Midwest Conference contest on Saturday at soggy England Stadium.
The Blueboys are now 7-2 overall and 6-2 in the Midwest Conference. The Rams moved to 4-5 overall and 4-4 in league play.

The Blueboys blasted out of the gates, sprinting to a 21-0 lead after one quarter.
Destin Chance found
Collin Brunstein from 17 yards out to start the scoring parade. IC offensive tackle
Evan Henley scored his first collegiate touchdown on the next series, recovering an IC fumble in the end zone for the score. Chance and Brunstein closed out the first quarter scoring when they connected from 53 yards out.
After the initial fireworks, the second quarter was scoreless and IC took a three touchdown lead into the break.
Cornell opened the scoring in the second half when Elliott Dryland caught a 61-yard touchdown pass from
John Smith before IC answered with a
Kyle Leonard 25-yard touchdown reception from Chance. Brunstein then latched on to a 44-yard strike from Chance to end the scoring in the third period.
The teams traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The Blueboys scored first on yet another Chance to Brunstein hook-up, this time from eight yards out. Rommel Pinner caught a five-yard pass from Smith to close out the scoring for the day.
IC's
Toby McTamney nailed all six of his extra point attempts and has now hit 33 consecutive over the past four games.
Chance, who became IC's all-time leader in touchdown passes, finished the day 22-of-33 for 350 yards and five touchdowns.
Brunstein was on the receiving end of nine passes for 201 yards and four scores. Leonard grabbed three balls for 55 yards and a score while
Trey Birdsong had five catches.
Lleyton Miller and
Tanner Spencer were a potent 1-2 combination on the ground as Miller had 86 yards on 14 carries while Spencer had 80 on 13 tries.
As they have all season,
Cam Dailey and
Drake Stuart anchored the defense as they each had nine tackles. Dailey also had a 2.5 for loss as well.
Blue Notes
The Blueboys have now won 15 of their past 17 regular-season games, and IC has also won 20 of its last 24 games overall… Chance now has 109 career TD passes and is the school's all-time leader… Brunstein, the first player in IC history to have 4,000 career receiving yards, now has 4,712 yards and 73 TD receptions (both school records)... he is the only player in IC history to catch over 70 touchdown passes… Collin also now has 206 career catches which is fourth in IC history and needs three to vault into third place… Brunstein needs three TD receptions to break the NCAA Division III record of 75.
