MT. VERNON, Iowa – The Illinois College men's soccer squad scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of play to post a 4-2 win over Cornell in a Midwest Conference match on Tuesday at the Cornell Soccer Stadium.
IC improved to 12-4-1 overall and 6-1-0 in Midwest Conference play. Cornell fell to 4-11-1 and 2-4-1.

Cornell took the lead in the match's opening minutes when Gaurab Khadka found the back of the net just 5:06 after kick-off. IC rallied back to tie the contest when
Jacob Pelletier scored at 31:14. Khadka struck again minutes before halftime to put the Rams back in the lead when he scored off a pass from Jake Elmore at 41:08.
The second half was scoreless until the waning minutes when the Blueboys' offense exploded in time to earn the victory.
Nate Kapitz tied the match at the 81:39 mark off a feed from
Oscar Liogon Arenas. Nearly two minutes later, IC took the lead for good as Pelletier scored for the second time at 83:15. The Blueboys iced the match when
Tyler Schiltz tallied with just 11 seconds to play.
IC out-shot the Rams, 17-10, and was led by Schiltz and
Tyler Lunning who each had four. Pelletier and
Thomas Menke contributed two each.
TJ Esseily got the win in goal, going the distance and recording three saves.
Blue Notes
The win increased IC's single-season school record win total to 12… the sixth Midwest Conference win also tied the school record for conference victories in a season with the 1993 squad.
