RIPON, Wis. - The Lady Blues tennis team returned to Midwest Conference play with visits to Ripon College and Lawrence University on Saturday. IC swept the state of Wisconsin by defeating Ripon and Lawrence by the final scores of 8-1 and 6-3 respectively. IC now stands at 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the MWC this season.
Match 1: Illinois College 8, Ripon 1
The Lady Blues got off to a quick 3-0 start as IC swept all doubles matches to start the day.
Madison Eastin and
Chloe Plough defeated their opponents in straight sets.
Sabrina Ingram and
Hannah Lueke picked up a double victory by the final score of 8-3.
Michelle Maag and
Lily Ingram competed in the No. 1 doubles match as the duo defeated their opponents by the score of 8-5.
IC was able to earn five single matches victories from the No. 2 - No. 6 positions.
Megan Oliver dropped the first set but came to win the tie-breaker set by the final score of 5-0 to win the her singles match.
Match 2: Illinois College 6, Lawrence 3
The Lady Blues led 2-1 after the doubles competition picking up wins by the No. 2 doubles team of Lueke and
Sabrina Ingram 8-4, and No. 3 doubles team of Eastin and Plough 8-0.
IC continued their momentum winning four of their six singles matches to claim the win over the Vikings.
The Lady Blues will travel to Southwestern Illinois College on Tuesday, September 26 at 3:00 PM in Belleville, Illinois.
