BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois College volleyball team traveled to Illinois Wesleyan University and participated in the IWU Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Blues suffered two loses to Illinois Wesleyan 0-3 and Hope 1-3. IC now stands at 6-8 overall this season.
Game 1- Illinois College 0, Illinois Wesleyan 3
The Lady Blues battled to the finish in a very competitive match against IWU. The Titans was able to gain momentum early defeating IC in three sets. The Lady Blues was led in offense by
Paige Knuffman with six kills while Alyssa Burgland added five kills.
Summer Brandis dished out 16 of-the-17 team total assists.
Jen Humbolt was the standout on defensive as she recorded a game-high 17 digs.
Ligaya Garibay led IC with two solo blocks. Â
Game 2- Illinois College 1, Hope College 3
The tough competition continued for the Lady Blues in the second match as IC dropped the match by the final score of 1-3 against Hope College. IC was led in offense by Knuffman with 17 kills while Garibay contributed 14 kills. Brandis was able to setup her teammates as she recorded 43 assists. Â
The team was led once again by Humbolt on the defensive end totaling 26Â digs in the match.
Laura Kaiser recorded two solo blocks for IC. Â
The Lady Blues will host Webster University on Tuesday, September 26 at 6:00 PM in Sherman Gymnasium.Â
