RIPON, Wis. - The Illinois College women's soccer team opened Midwest Conference play with a visit to Ripon College Saturday. The Lady Blues battled the Redhawks to a 1-1 tie. IC now stands at 3-4-1 overall this season.
In the opening minutes,
Sophia Kriegesmann was tested with three early shots from Ripon and did not allow a goal. IC and Ripon went back-and-forth on shots during in the first half as the Lady Blues outshot the Redhawks 11-6. IC and Ripon went into halftime tied at 0-0.
In the 51st minute, Ripon struck first on the scoreboard with a goal from Martina Palazzolo. IC tied the match in the 67th minute when
Olivia Ralston netted a goal which was her fourth goal of the season.
For the match, IC outshot Ripon 23-12 as each team had 12 shots on goal.
Haley Sommer led IC with eight shots while Kriegesmann recorded seven saves.
The Lady Blues will travel to Augustana College (IL) on Wednesday, September 27 at 6:00 PM in Rock Island, Illinois.
