ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Illinois College golf teams wrapped up their two-day tournament at the Highland Championships hosted by Augustana College Saturday afternoon. The men's team posted a second-place team finish while the women's team captured fifth place out of the field of 12 teams.
In the opening round on Friday, IC's
Samuel Frericks lead the men's team with a low score of 70 while
Jarrett James contributed a 72 on the scorecard. On day two, James lead the Blueboys with a round of 73 that helped propel himself to a three-way tie for a second place overall finish with a total score of 145. As a team, the men finished the championships with a team score of 599.
The women's team was lead by
Amy Fowler after day one as she fired a 79 while
Alyvia Burr contributed an 85 for the Lady Blues. In the final round, Burr lead the women's team with an individual score of 82 while Fowler posted an 85. Fowler ended the championships in a tie for 10th-place overall with a total score of 164. As a team, the women finished with a score of 680 that captured the fifth-pace finish
The men's team will travel to Aurora, Ill on Tuesday, September 5th to participate in the Aurora Fall Invite. The women's team will host a JV match on Wednesday, September 6th at the The Links Golf Course in Jacksonville, Ill.
