JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College women's soccer team hosted Blackburn College Tuesday night. The Lady Blues shutout the Beavers by the final score of 7-0. IC's
Darian Blackburn recorded her first career hat-trick in the dominate victory.
The Lady Blues wasted no time getting into the attacking zone. In the fourth minute,
Olivia Ralston delivered a spectacular cross on a IC corner kick when
Lauren Sinclair headed the ball in the net for the early 1-0 lead.
Blackburn scored back-to-back goals for IC in the 29th and 40th minutes as those shots were both taken several feet outside the 18-yard marker. IC took the 3-0 lead at halftime.
In the 47th minute,
Olivia Ralston netted a goal as that goal was her third of the season. In the 72nd minute, Blackburn completed the hat-trick with her three goal of the match. IC added two goals in the final 10 minutes from
Kayla Piper and
Kayla Serpa. Serpa scored her first career collegiate goal in this match.
IC outshot the Beavers 34-5 as 21 of those shots were on goal.
The Lady Blues will open Midwest Conference play with a visit to Ripon College on Saturday, September 23 at 11:00 AM in Ripon, Wisconsin.
