CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. - The IC men's soccer team traveled to Coe College for a non-conference match Thursday night. The Blueboys fell just short to the Kohawks in the final minutes by the final of 4-6.
IC struck first in the 16th minute a
Tyler Lunning's goal that was assisted by
Jason Hernandez. Just over four minutes later, IC's
Reed Rogers extended the Blueboys lead to 2-0 with a goal that was assisted by
Albert Nimako.
Coe College answered back in the 33rd minute with their first goal of the night that came off the foot Alan Losoya. The Blueboys took the 2-1 lead into halftime.
Both teams came out aggressive in the second half. In the 47th minute, Coe College tied the decision at 2-2 with a goal from Ian Kearney. Right after the IC kickoff, in the 47th minute,
Tyler Lunning gave IC the 3-2 advantage with his second goal of the game. The Kohawks answered back with a goal in the 51st minute from Jaiden Palmer that tied the decision at 3-3.
Coe College added another goal 71st minute to go up 3-4. IC's
Tyler Schiltz tied the decision at 4-4 with a goal in the 81st minute. However, Coe College scored two goals in the final minutes to defeat the Blueboys.
The Blueboys will host Eureka College on Saturday, September 16 at 1:30 PM in England Stadium.
