JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College men's soccer team hosted Augustana College (IL) for a non-conference match Tuesday night. The Blueboys and Vikings battled back-and-forth to a 0-0 tie.
In the opening minute, IC's
Josh Platzbecker found a lane and delivered a shot that just missed wide left. The Blueboys continued to stay aggressive on offense by adding four shot on goal.
In the final minutes of the first half, IC had a late attack where the Blueboys had three shots on goal but the score remained 0-0 at the half.
In the 67th minute, the Blueboys had their best chance at scoring a goal when IC was rewarded a penalty kick.
Tyler Lunning took the penalty kick and was saved by the diving Vikings goalkeeper.
IC outshot Augustana 19-4 with 11 shots in the second half.
Carlos Garcia represented IC in goal with three saves.
The Blueboys will travel to Coe College on Thursday, September 14 to face the Kohawks at 5:00PM in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
