Lady Blues Picks Up Road Win Over Eureka

EUREKA, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues traveled to compete against the Eureka Red Devils in a doubleheader on Monday. IC earned a win in game one against Eureka 9-0 and tied in the second game 4-4. This advances the Lady Blues to 7-10-1 overall this season. 

GAME 1- Illinois College 9, Eureka College 0

IC got off to a strong start in game one of the day. Annie Schimpf got IC on the board early with a solo home run in the top of the first. IC continued to pile on runs behind an impressive pitching performance from Julia Drake to secure the victory. 

Drake earned the win in the circle pitching 5.0 innings with 11 strikeouts. Olivia Shimmin pitched the remaining 2.0 innings with one strikeout for the combined shutout. 

Cheyenne Anderson was the standout at the plate going three for four on the day with two runs scored and one RBI. 

GAME 2- Illinois College 4, Eureka College 4 (11 innings)

The Lady Blues held the lead 3-0 heading into the final inning of play. Eureka was able to rally back to tie the game and force extra innings. The game went all the way to the 11th inning when both teams added one more run to their scores. The game was called a tie after running out of daylight. 

Terin Teeter had an impressive day in the circle pitching 4.0 innings with four strikeouts. Calynn Gicante was the standout at the plate going three for four on the day with two RBI.

The team will return to conference play traveling to face Beloit College on Friday, 4/7 at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
