GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys traveled to face Knox College on Wednesday in MWC action. IC earned the sweep defeating the Prairie Fire to advance to 14-20 overall and 10-8 in the MWC.
GAME 1- Illinois College 8, Knox College 2
Jack McGuire led the Blueboys on the mound pitching 6.2 innings with 11 strikeouts.
Jon Tate was the standout at the plate going three for five with two RBI.
Nolan Decker got the day started for the Blueboys with a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning. This sparked the IC offense leading to a 4-0 lead after the fifth.
Griffin King would seal the win with a two-run homer in the top of the eighth.
GAME 2- Illinois College 12, Knox College 8
Tate continued his hot streak going five for five at the plate in game two with three runs scored and three RBI.
Aiden Lougeay got the start at the mound pitching 6.0 innings with nine strikeouts. The Blueboys took the lead scoring five runs in the top of the fifth.
IC kept the lead for the remainder of the game holding off the Prairie Fire to claim the win.
The Blueboys will host their Senior Day against Monmouth College on Saturday, 4/29 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
