Blueboys Baseball Hosts Monmouth College on Senior Day

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- Illinois College hosted Monmouth College in a MWC doubleheader on Saturday. The team split with the Fighting Scots winning game one and falling short in game two. This advances the team to 15-21 overall and 11-9 in the MWC. 

The team took the time in between games to honor their seniors. Peyton Phillis, Jared Dorfman, Griffin King, Scott Huckabay, Tyler Jowett, Caleb Uselton, Jayden Kasai, and Cullen McBride were all honored by their teammates and families for their accomplishments and dedication to the Blueboys baseball program. 

GAME 1- Illinois College 13, Monmouth College 8

The Blueboys were led by a strong performance from Jaydon Davis offensively finishing the day going three for four with two runs scored and four RBI. Logan Schweigert also had an impressive day at the plate finishing the game going three for four with two runs scored and three RBI. 

Griffin King earned the win at the mound pitching 6.0 innings with four strikeouts. Andrew Wieneke was a key reliever pitching the final 3.0 innings earning a save with three strikeouts. 

GAME 2- Illinois College 7, Monmouth College 9

Monmouth got off to a strong start in the second game of the day jumping to a 1-9 lead in the fourth. IC made a strong attempt at a comeback but would come up short.

Schweigert led the Blueboys going four for five at the plate with one run scored and two RBI. Jacob Smith suffered the loss at the mound pitching 3.1 innings with two strikeouts. 

The team will continue their series against the Fighting Scots traveling to Monmouth on Sunday, 4/30 at 12:00 PM.
