JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys picked up a big win over the Knox College Prairie Fire on Tuesday with a final score of 3-1. This improves the team to 11-18 overall and 7-6 in the MWC.
IC was led by an impressive performance from
Jack McGuire on the mound. McGuire earned the win pitching 7.0 innings with six strikeouts while allowing zero runs.
Tory Wickman made an appearance in the ninth to earn a save and close out the win for the Blueboys.
The Blueboys got on the board first after a sacrifice fly by
Jon Tate brought in
Jaydon Davis. The team put up two more runs to hold a commanding lead down the stretch. Knox threatened the lead in the final inning, but Wickman was able to hold off the Prairie Fire comeback to claim the win.
The team will return to MWC action hosting Grinnell College on Saturday, 4/22 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
