JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College baseball team started their weekend series against Lawrence University splitting their Saturday doubleheader falling in game one 1-5 and picking up a win in game two 16-6. This advances the team to 9-18 overall and 5-6 in the MWC.
GAME 1- Illinois College 1, Lawrence University 5
Griffin King got the start at the mound for the Blueboys pitching 6.0 innings with seven strikeouts. IC was led at the plate by
Ryne Mapes in his return from injury going one for three with one RBI.
Lawrence was able to open up their lead in the fifth inning to defeat the Blueboys in game one.
GAME 2- Illinois College 16, Lawrence University 6
IC bounced back offensively in the second game of the day.
Connor Hennemann led the way going two for four at the plate with three runs scored and three RBI.
Ben Jarboe earned the win at the mound pitching 2.0 innings with three strikeouts. A home run by
Jaydon Davis in the bottom of the fifth put IC ahead 10-5. Hennemann went the distance on a solo home run in the seventh to extend the Blueboys lead to 16-6 and claim the win.
The team will continue their weekend series against the Vikings on Sunday, 4/16 at 12:00 PM.
