JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College baseball team hosted Ripon College in the first game of their weekend series on Saturday. The Blueboys were able to pick up a close win over the Red Hawks with a final score of 4-3. This advances the team to 6-13 overall and 2-2 in the MWC.
The Blueboys took the lead in the fifth inning after a double by
Jaydon Davis brought in runs by
Peyton Phillis and Jonathon Odom to make the score 3-2. Ripon answered with a run of their own to tie the game 3-3.
A solo homer from Davis in the bottom of the seventh inning would earn the Blueboys the win. Davis finished the game going two for four at the plate with one run scored and four RBI.
Griffin King had an incredible performance at the mound pitching 7.0 innings with 10 strikeouts.
IC will continue their weekend series against Ripon on Sunday, 1/2 with a doubleheader at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM.
