KISSIMMEE, Fla.- The Lady Blues softball team continued their spring trip taking on Kenyon College and Catholic University on Tuesday. The Lady Blues earned a split defeating Kenyon 10-2 and falling short to Catholic 1-2. This advances the team to 3-5 overall this season.
GAME 1- Illinois College 10, Kenyon College 2
The first game of the day featured a standout performance by
Kiya Hagene going two for three at the plate with one run and three runs batted in.
Annie Schimpf also had an incredible performance going two for four at the plate with two runs and two runs batted in.
IC built a 5-2 lead after a homerun by Schimpf in the third inning. The Lady Blues continued to succeed offensively scoring four more runs in the fifth. This would prove to be enough to earn IC the win.
Teeter Terin earned the win in the circle pitching 4.0 innings with four strikeouts.
GAME 2- Illinois College 1, Catholic University 2
The Lady Blues found themselves in a close contest in game two of the day against Catholic. The Cardinals took a 0-2 lead in the third inning over IC.
The team was able to score in the sixth inning with a run by Schimpf but was not able to pull off the comeback suffering the loss.
Olivia Shimmin suffered the loss in the circle pitching 2.0 innings.
The Lady Blues will return to action facing the United States Coast Guard Academy and College of Saint Benedict on Thursday, 3/9 at 11:30 AM and 4:30 PM ET.
