KISSIMMEE, Fla.- The Illinois College Lady Blues dropped two close games to start their Florida trip. IC suffered a loss to Marian University 2-3 and a loss to Husson University 0-3.
GAME 1- Illinois College 2, Marian University 3
The team was led by
Annie Schimpf in the first game of the trip going three for four at the plate.
Kiya Hagene also was a standout going two for four at the plate.
IC took the lead after a sacrifice fly ball by
Mackenzy Payne to bring in a run by
Lucy Snow.
Chaddam Crosier was able to extend the lead after scoring on a wild pitch to make the score 2-0.
Marian rallied in the seventh inning to tie the game 2-2. The Panthers earned the walk-off win on a single to defeat the Lady Blues.
Terin Teeter started the game in the circle pitching 5.0 innings with four strikeouts.
Calynn Gicante suffered the loss pitching 1.2 innings.
GAME 2- Illinois College 0, Husson University 3
IC was led by Payne in game two recording two hits on three at bats.
Husson was able to take the lead scoring three runs in the first three innings. The Lady Blues suffered the shutout loss to drop to 1-3 overall this season.
Julia Drake suffered the loss in the circle pitching 5.0 innings with 10 strikeouts.
The Lady Blues will continue their spring trip facing St. Joseph's College of Maine in a doubleheader on Monday, 3/6 at 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM ET.
