MARION, Iowa- The Illinois College Blueboys faced Cornell College in a single game on Saturday to wrap up their weekend series against the Rams. The team picked up the win with a final score of 4-3 to advance to 5-13 overall and 1-2 in the MWC.
Peyton Phillis had the play of the day hitting a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to put IC ahead late and ultimately earn them the victory. Phillis finished one for four on the day at the plate with one run scored and two runs batted in.
Jaydon Davis also made an impact going two for four with a solo home run in the top of the eighth.
Dylan Eaton earned the win at the mound pitching 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.
Tory Wickman finished the game with a save holding off the Rams in the final inning with one strikeout.
IC will continue its conference schedule by hosting Ripon College on Saturday, 4/1 in a doubleheader at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
