JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted the Fontbonne University Griffins in a single game on Wednesday. The Blueboys suffered a loss to the Griffins with a final score of 4-5 after 10 innings. This drops IC to 0-4 to start the season.
Jon Tate was a standout going two for five at the plate with two runs scored.
Griffin King also made an impact going one for three at the plate with a homerun.
The Griffins would strike first with two runs in the top of the third.
Cullen McBride answered for the Blueboys with a double to bring in a run by
Louie Bartletti. A two-run homer by King in the fourth inning would put the Blueboys ahead 3-2.
After a couple of runs by the Griffins, a single by Jaydon Kasai would bring in a run by Tate to tie the game at 4-4. This would be the score as the game went into extra innings.
Fontbonne was able to get a run in the top of the tenth and hold off the Blueboys to earn the win.
Ben Jarboe suffered the loss at the mound pitching 3.0 innings with two strikeouts.
Illinois College will look ahead to travel to Florida for their spring break trip next week. IC will face Penn State Altoona in a doubleheader on Sunday, 3/5 at 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM CT.
