CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Illinois College volleyball team opened competition at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Invitational with their opening round contest against Albion College. The Lady Blues fell to the Britons by the final score of 1-3 and now stand at 9-9 overall this season.
The Lady Blues were led on offense by
Alyssa Burglund with 12 kills while
Ligaya Garibay contributed 11 kills.
Summer Brandis dished out a game-high 31 assists while adding five kills on 11 attacks.
Defensively, IC had three student-athletes finish with double-digit digs mark led by
Ella Middleton with a career-high 22 digs. Garibay posted a double-double performance by collecting a career-high 16 digs.
Alex Johnson recorded 12 digs in the back row while recording two service aces for IC.
The Lady Blues will conclude MIT Invitational action on Saturday, October 7 with a double-header starting against the host MIT at 11:00 AM followed by Swarthmore College at 2:00 PM. Both matches will be played in Eastern Standard Time.
