JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College men's soccer team continued Midwest Conference play as the team hosted Lawrence University under the lights Saturday night. The Blueboys were led by
Tyler Lunning with two second half goals that help defeat the Vikings by the final score of 2-0. IC improves to 8-4-2 and 3-3-1 in the MWC standing which currently ranks second.
In the first half, IC and Lawrence battled back-and-forth in a very physical match. In the early portion of the match, IC had multiple scoring opportunities that resulted in shots that went off the post or went just wide. The score remained scoreless at 0-0 at halftime.
On the ensuing second half kickoff,
Tyler Schiltz delivered a fantastic pass to Lunning when he netted his first goal of the night. Less than seven minutes later,
Reed Rogers found Lunning near the net as Lunning scored the second goal of the day. Rogers was credited for the assist which was his fifth of the season which leads the team.
For the match, IC outshot the Vikings 22-2 as Schiltz led IC with 10 shots while Lunning added five shots.
Owen Macias represented IC in goal as he recorded his third shutout of the season.
The Blueboys will travel to Lake Forest College for a MWC matchup on Saturday, October 21 at 1:30 PM in Lake Forest, Illinois.
