GRINNELL, Iowa- The Illinois College Lady Blues traveled to face Grinnell College on Saturday. IC came away with the win in a thrilling contest with a final score of 55-52. This advances IC to 7-12 overall and 5-6 in the MWC.
The team was led by
Maya Williams finishing the game with 14 points.
Maya Smith was also exceptional with 13 points and eight rebounds in the contest.
Ashlyn Wightman led the team on the boards with 12 rebounds.
The game remained close for the majority of the contest. The score was tied 52-52 with 26 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Williams was able to get to the rim for the go-ahead layup to put the Lady Blues ahead 54-52 down the stretch. Williams would steal the ball from the Pioneers and draw the foul to get to the free throw to seal the victory for IC.
The team will travel to face Monmouth College on Tuesday, 1/31 at 5:30 PM.
