MOUNT VERNON, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues basketball team traveled to take on Cornell College Wednesday night. The team suffered a loss to the Rams with a final score of 49-57. This drops the team to 6-12 overall and 4-6 in the MWC.
Ashlyn Wightman led the team with 15 points and six rebounds in the contest. She also totaled three blocks on the defensive end.
The game remained close with multiple lead changes. A made jump shot by Wightman in the final seconds of the first half gave IC the lead 21-20 as the game headed to halftime. Cornell began to excel offensively in the fourth quarter to jump ahead. The Rams would hold off the Lady Blues to claim the win.
The Lady Blues will return to action on Saturday, 1/28 traveling to face Grinnell College at 3:00 PM.
