MOUNT VERNON, Iowa- The Illinois College Blueboys traveled to face Cornell College on Wednesday night in MWC action. The Blueboys fell short in a tough conference battle with a final score of 56-64. This snaps the Blueboys 16 game-win streak and drops them to 17-2 overall and 9-1 in the MWC.
Josh Harris and
Tre Rogers led the team with 13 points each.
Jake Mazrimas also reached double-figures in scoring with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Nestor Daboin matched Mazrimas with eight rebounds to lead the team.
The Blueboys started strong with a 14-4 run in the first four minutes of the game. IC led for the majority of the first half with the Rams cutting the deficit to 33-31 at halftime.
The game remained close until the final minutes. The Rams hit a three-point basket to take the lead over the Blueboys 56-58 with 1:12 remaining in the game. IC could not answer on the offensive end leading to another Rams score. Cornell would claim the win down the stretch at the free-throw line.
The Blueboys will look to bounce back traveling to face Grinnell College on Saturday, 1/28 at 5:00 PM.
