JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues basketball team hosted Beloit College on Saturday. The team was able to come away with a win defeating the Buccaneers in a close contest with a final score of 79-67. This improves the team to 6-11 overall and 4-5 in the MWC.
Maya Smith was the team's leader offensively with 22 points in the contest.
Ashlyn Wightman was the team's leading rebounder with seven and also reached double-figures in scoring with 15 points.
Beloit was able to get off to a hot start jumping ahead of the Lady Blues 9-18 in the first quarter. The Buccaneers maintained their lead to stand ahead 29-34 at the end of the first half. Smith was able to provide a spark for the Lady Blues tying the game with a made three-point shot to make the score 36-36 with 7:01 left in the third quarter. IC took the lead ending the quarter on a 20-8 run. IC kept the lead for the remainder of the game to earn their fourth conference victory of the season.
The Lady Blues will travel to face Cornell College on Wednesday, 1/25 at 5:30 PM.
