JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted Lake Forest College on Saturday. With their undefeated MWC record on the line, the Blueboys rose to the occasion and defeated the Foresters with a final score of 66-51. This advances the team to 15-1 overall and 7-0 in the MWC.
Tre Rogers was the standout for the Blueboys offensively with 19 points. Other double-figure scorers included
Jahkeis Tippett with 13 points and
Josh Harris with 12 points. Tippett also led the team in rebounding with eight rebounds in the contest.
The game remained close throughout the first half with multiple lead changes. A made layup by the Foresters in the final seconds would give them the lead with the score at 23-30. Rogers would drain a three-pointer at the buzzer for IC to make the score 26-30 as the game headed to halftime.
Lake Forest opened the second half with a 9-2 run to build their largest lead of the night with the score 28-39. After a timeout, the Blueboys turned it on putting together a 12-0 run to take the lead 40-39 after a made three-pointer by
Henry Hayer with 15:25 left in the game. IC did not give up the lead for the remainder of the game holding Lake Forest to just 21 points in the second half to claim the win.
