ST. LOUIS, Mo.- The Illinois College Lady Blues traveled to face the Webster University Gorloks on Wednesday night. The team suffered a competitive five-set loss 15-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 12-15. This drops IC to 1-3 overall this season.
The Lady Blues were led by
Paige Knuffman with 12 kills in the match.
Morgan Burr was the team's leader in assists with 18 on the night. The team was led defensively by
Jen Humbolt with an impressive 30 digs, and
Laura Kaiser totaling five blocks.
The team looked to force a fifth set after being down 1-2 going into the fourth set. The Lady Blues trailed 20-21 down the stretch before putting together a five-point run to claim the set win on a kill by
Haylie Orton. IC stood tied with the Gorloks in the fifth set with the score at 12-12. Webster was able to finish strong claiming three straight points to decide the match.
The Lady Blues will travel this weekend to compete in the Transylvania University Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The team will face Whitworth University on Friday, 9/9 at 1:00 PM.
