JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- Illinois College men's soccer was able to earn a win over Eureka College in their home opener with a final score of 3-1. This advances the Blueboys to 1-1 overall this season.
Sam Blair was able to get IC on the board first in the fourth minute to take the early lead over the Red Devils. An assist by
Jared Wiening led to
Tyler Lunning connecting with the back of the net to put the Blueboys ahead 2-0. Eureka would answer with a goal of their own to make the score 2-1 heading into the half.
The Blueboys relied on strong defense holding Eureka to just five shots in the second half.
Tyler Schiltz would score on an assist by
Josh Platzbecker in the 74th minute to seal the win for IC.
Carlos Garcia represented the Blueboys in goal playing the entire 90 minutes with seven saves.
IC will travel to Westminster College on Sunday, 9/4 at 2:00 PM.
