GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College baseball team traveled to face Knox College in a single game on Wednesday. The team came away with a win 11-8 in the 10th inning to improve to 13-20 overall and 8-10 in the MWC.
IC was led by
Cullen McBride going five for six at the plate with three runs and three runs batted in.
Kole Lowry got the win at the mound pitching 1.2 innings with four strikeouts.
Knox was able to jump into the lead 2-8 after the bottom of the third inning. The Blueboys turned it around with a two run homer by
Griffin King to cut the deficit to 4-8 in the top of the fourth. The team then tied the game after a solo home run by John Tate in the top of the nineth. This would force the game into extra innings.
The Blueboys dominated at the plate in the 10th. A single by
James Marcinkowski brought in
Kellen Blum for the go ahead run. McBride would homer bringing in the run by Marcinkowski to seal the deal for the Blueboys.
IC will travel to face Monmouth College in a doubleheader on Saturday, 4/30 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
