BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues picked up a win in the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a final of 3-2. This advances the team to 6-8 overall this season.
IC was able to score in the first inning with a run by
Emma Newton to take the early lead. After loosing the lead in the third, the Lady Blues were able to tie the game at 2-2 after a double by
Kayla Serpa brought in
Maddie Murphy for the score.
The team was able to score the game winning run after a single by
Calynn Gicante brought in a run by
Claudia Adam.
Sydney Hood picked up the win in the circle pitching all 7.0 innings with 11 strikeouts.
The Lady Blues will face Wisconsin-Whitewater and the University of Chicago tomorrow in a doubleheader at 12:15 PM and 2:30 PM.
