BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues earned a split in the second day of the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament suffering a loss to Wisconsin-Whitewater with a final of 1-3 and picking up a win over University of Chicago 4-1. This advances the Lady Blues to 7-9 overall.
GAME 1- Illinois College 1, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 3
The Lady Blues would get on the board first with a run by
Grace Braun in the top of the second.
Wisconsin-Whitewater was able to take the lead on a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth which would ultimately be the deciding factor in a close contest.
Julia Drake would suffer the loss in the circle pitching all 6.0 innings earning nine strikeouts.
GAME 2- Illinois College 4, University of Chicago 1
IC was able to recover from the loss in the first game of the day to earn a win over the University of Chicago Maroons in their final game of the weekend. The Maroon's scored first in the top of the first to stand ahead 0-1.
The Lady Blues were able to get the lead back quick scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. IC would add two more runs by
Emma Newton and
Jada Johnson to secure the win.
Jacey Nall earned the win in the circle pitching 7.0 innings with two strikeouts.
The Lady Blues will return to competition on Wednesday, 4/6 hosting Knox College at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
