Blueboys Finish Sweep Over Knox College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys earned two hard fought wins with some impressive hitting against conference competitor Knox College. This advances the Blueboys to 11-18 overall and 6-8 in the MWC. 

GAME 1- Illinois College 11, Knox College 3

The Blueboys took control of the first game early jumping to a 6-0 lead after the first four innings. 

Knox would battle back scoring three runs to make the score 6-3. Home runs by Bailey Reed and Peyton Abbott would seal the victory for the Blueboys in the first game of the day.

Andrew Wieneke got the start at the mound pitching 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. Gunner Spivey would earn the win in the pitching decision.

GAME 2- Illinois College 13, Knox College 4

Logan Schweigert would get the team on the board with a three run homer in the bottom of the fourth. Knox would come back to tie the score 4-4 in the top of the sixth. 

A double by James Marcinkowski brought in the go ahead run by Kellen Blum. IC continued to shine offensively scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the eighth to finish the sweep over the Prairie Fire. 

Kole Lowry earned the victory at the mound pitching 1.0 innings with one strikeout. 

The team will travel to face Grinnell College on Saturday, 4/23 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM
