KENOSHA, Wis.- The Illinois College softball team traveled to face the Ripon College Red Hawks in a MWC Saturday doubleheader. The team walked away with two wins advancing to 13-11 overall and 6-2 in the MWC.
GAME 1- Illinois College 7, Ripon College 4
IC was led by
Emma Newton going three for four at the plate scoring two runs with three runs batted in. The score stood tied 4-4 heading into the final inning of the game. Newton doubled to bring in a run by
Madisyn Webster to give the Lady Blues the lead. Singles by
Grace Braun and
Cheyenne Anderson would bring in runs by Newton and
Jada Johnson to seal the victory for the Lady Blues.
Jacey Nall earned the win in the circle pitching 2.2 innings with three strikeouts.
GAME 2- Illinois College 10, Ripon College 0
The second game of the day featured a standout performance by Webster going four for four at the plate scoring three runs. Newton was also a standout going two for three at the plate with three runs and four runs batted in.
The team got going early scoring six runs after the first two innings. IC would extend their lead to 10-0 to earn the win in game two after five innings. Nall earned the win in game two pitching 2.0 innings with one strikeout.
The Lady Blues will host Monmouth College on Tuesday, 4/19 at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
