JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College softball team hosted Monmouth College in MWC action on Senior Day. The Lady Blues picked up a win in game one after 12 innings with a final of 4-3. The second game of the day was halted due to the game running late and running out of daylight. The team now stands at 14-11 overall and 7-2 in the MWC.
Monmouth was able to build a substantial lead late in the game with the score at 3-1 in the top of the sixth. A double by
Emma Newton would bring in a run by
Madisyn Webster to cut the deficit to one run. A single by
Grace Braun brought in the score by Newton to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh and force extra innings.
IC earned the walk off win after a single by
Annie Schimpf scored the game winning run by
Grace Frost in the bottom of the 12th.
Julia Drake would earn the win in the circle pitching 5.0 innings with eight strikeouts.
The team took the time to honor their seven seniors

Grace Frost,
Madisyn Webster,
Alissa Hodge,
Sydney Hood,
Jacey Nall, and
Emma Newton in-between games. The players were joined by their friends and family as they recognized for their dedication to the IC softball program.
The Lady Blues will travel to face Cornell College on Saturday, 4/23 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
