JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues hosted Illinois Wesleyan for a doubleheader on Monday. The team suffered two close losses to the Titans to fall to 5-8 overall this season.
GAME 1- Illinois College 1, Illinois Wesleyan 3
Illinois Wesleyan was able to take the lead early in game one with a run in the top of the second. The Lady Blues would tie the game after a single by
Grace Frost brought in
Emma Newton for the score. The game remained tied until the seventh inning.
The Titans were able to score two runs in the final inning to seal the victory over the Lady Blues.
Sydney Hood suffered the loss in the circle pitching the complete 7.0 innings recording seven strikeouts.
GAME 2- Illinois College 0, Illinois Wesleyan 1
The second game proved to be a competitive matchup. Illinois Wesleyan was able to score in the top of the first to take the one run lead. IC was not able to take advantage of any scoring opportunities due to great defense by the Titans and would suffer the loss in game two.
Jacey Nall went the distance in the circle for the Lady Blues pitching all 7.0 innings suffering the loss while recording nine strikeouts.
IC will travel to compete in the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament this weekend taking on University of Chicago on Saturday, 4/2 at 12:15 PM.
