JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys began conference play hosting Cornell College in a single game on Saturday. IC was able to get the win in extra innings to advance to 6-10 overall.
The Rams were able to take the lead in the top of the fifth to stand ahead of the Blueboys 0-1. Cornell would add another run in the top of the seventh to make the score 0-2.
IC got on the board after a sacrifice fly ball by
Kellen Blum was able to bring in a score by
Peyton Abbott.
Tyler Blum singled to bring in the tying run by
James Marcinkowski. This sent the game into extra innings.
The Blueboys loaded the bases in the bottom of the eleventh inning to set up the game winning score. A walk-off base hit by
Cullen McBride brought in the game winning run by
Jared Dorfman to give IC the thrilling win 3-2.
Kole Lowry finished the game with the win at the mound.
The team will host Cornell in a doubleheader tomorrow at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
