JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues picked up two big wins against Fontbonne University on Friday. This now puts the team at 5-6 overall this season.
GAME 1- Illinois College 8, Fontbonne University 0
The Lady Blues were able to get off to a hot start in the first game of the doubleheader. The team was able to score three runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. A double by
Calynn Gicante was able to bring in two more scores by
Grace Frost and
Claudia Adam to increase the Lady Blues lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third.
IC would finish the game scoring three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Fontbonne University Griffins.
Jacey Nall earned the shutout win in the circle pitching all 6.0 innings earning two strikeouts.
GAME 2- Illinois College 7, Fontbonne University 3
The Lady Blues were able to get off to a good start in the second game as well. IC got the bats going with a double by
Emma Newton, a triple by Adam, a double by Gicante, and a single by
Jaycie Edwards to bring in four runs putting IC ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the first.
The team would add three more runs to claim the victory and complete the sweep.
Sydney Hood earned the win in game two pitching 4.0 innings totaling six strikeouts.
Julia Drake earned a save in the contest pitching 3.0 innings with five strikeouts.
The Lady Blues will host Illinois Wesleyan University on Monday, 3/28 at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
