JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College baseball team suffered two losses to Rockford University over the weekend in a Sunday doubleheader. This drops the team to 5-10 overall as they look forward to begin MWC play.
GAME 1- Illinois College 6, Rockford University 8
IC was able to take the lead after a homerun by
James Marcinkowski bringing in a score by
Case Sparks to stand ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the third. Rockford would jump ahead in the top of the fifth scoring three runs to make the score 2-3.
Kellen Blum was able to double to bring in
Peyton Phillis for the game tying run in the bottom of the sixth.Ā
Peyton Abbott would give IC a large lead with a three run homer in the bottom of the sixth to put the Blueboys ahead 6-3. Rockford was able to gain some momentum in the final innings to pull away and claim the win over the Blueboys.Ā
Cullen McBride pitched an outstanding game as the starter for IC. He totaled 6.1 innings with 10 strikeouts.
Owen Macias suffered the loss at the mound for the Blueboys.Ā
GAME 2- Illinois College 2, Rockford University 10
The second game of the day proved to be a tough one for the Blueboys.
Caleb Uselton was able to earn a single to bring in a run by
Kellen Blum in the bottom of the second to give IC the early lead. Rockford would answer back with 10 unanswered runs to build a commanding lead.Ā
IC was unable to overcome the deficit and would suffer a loss in game two.
Christian Stawar suffered the loss at the mound pitching 5.0 innings.Ā
IC will look to begin conference play this weekend hosting Cornell College on Saturday, 3/26 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.Ā
