DAVENPORT, Fla.- The Illinois College Blueboys ended their spring trip on a good note picking up two wins over Penn State Altoona to advance to 4-5 overall this season.
GAME 1- Illinois College 11, Penn State Altoona 7
IC had a miraculous comeback in the first game of the doubleheader. The Blueboys stood down 6-1 heading into the final inning of the seven inning game. The Blueboys were able to find a spark in the top of the seventh putting up five runs to tie the game and head to extra innings.
James Marcinkowski had a huge triple in the top of the ninth bringing in two runs by
Peyton Phillis and
Peyton Abbott to put the team ahead. IC would add three more runs to secure the victory over the Nittany Lions.
Owen Macias earned the win for IC at the mound pitching 1.1 innings with one strikeout.
GAME 2- Illinois College 3, Penn State Altoona 1
The second game of the day proved to be a close one. IC stood tied 1-1 in the bottom of the third.
Tyler Blum was able to bring in a run by
Case Sparks to put the Blueboys ahead.
Cullen McBride would seal the win for the team with a homerun in the bottom of the fourth to give the Blueboys the win.
John Fink earned the win at the mound in game two pitching 1.1 innings with three strikeouts.
Gunner Spivey earned the save helping the Blueboys close out the victory in a close contest.
IC will travel home to face Blackburn College in a doubleheader on Tuesday, 3/15 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM CT.
