JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted Loras College and Augustana College in a Sunday doubleheader out at Future Champions Field. The Blueboys fell short in both games to drop to 0-2 overall on the season.
GAME 1- Illinois College 2, Loras College 6
James Marcinkowski was able to get the Bluboys on the board first after hitting a triple to bring home
Peyton Phillis to give IC the 1-0 lead. Loras would answer back in the top of the third scoring two runs to jump ahead 2-1. Phillis would score another run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2.
Loras heated up in the top of the ninth to score four runs jumping ahead of the Blueboys to claim the win.
Cullen McBride started at the mound for the Blueboys pitching 6.0 innings with four strikeouts.
John Fink would suffer the loss as the Blueboys looked ahead to their next game against Augustana.
GAME 2- Illinois College 1, Augustana College 16
The Vikings were able to put together a couple of hits in the first inning to score two runs. A single by
Peyton Abbott would bring in a run by Phillis in the bottom of the first to make the score 2-1. The Blueboys struggled in the top of the second giving up six runs to give Augustana the commanding lead.
IC fought hard, but was unable to recover from the deficit. Stawar suffered the loss at the mound to drop to 0-1 this season.
IC will travel to face Fontbonne University on Wednesday, 3/2 at 1:00 PM.
