GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys traveled to face Knox College on Tuesday night with a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament on the line. The Blueboys were able to defeat the Prairie Fire with a final score of 72-60 to move on to the postseason and clinch the fourth seed in the tournament. This advances the team to 14-10 overall and 10-6 in the MWC.
IC was led by
Tre Rogers totaling 22 points on the night shooting 8-11 from the field and 3-5 from beyond the arc. He was followed by
Jake Mazrimas who recorded 17 points and seven rebounds on the night.
Josh Harris also reached double figures with 10 points.
The Blueboys got off to a hot start jumping into the lead early. A made three-pointer by Harris put the team up 23-9 with 11:40 left in the first half. IC would stand ahead 35-29 as the game headed to halftime. IC showed great resilience in the second half holding off the Prairie Fire to maintain the lead and pick up the win.
The Blueboys will travel to face the #1 seed Ripon College in the semifinal round of the MWC Tournament on Friday, 2/25 at 6:00 PM.
