JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues hosted Senior Day against Lake Forest College on Saturday. The team was able to earn a win over the Foresters with a final of 91-74. This improves the Lady Blues to 7-9 overall and 6-2 in the MWC.
Before the game, the team took the time to honor five of their seniors
Tea Abraham,
Krista Bass,
Kendra Bass,
Junie Zirkelbach, and
Samantha Lordan. The players were greeted by their family members and recognized by the team and the fans for their dedication to the women's basketball program.
Lilly Pepper had an outstanding game leading the team with a double-double totaling 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Kendra Bass was also able to finish the night with a double-double recording 14 points with 10 rebounds. Other double figure scorers included
Maya Smith (11) and
Ashlyn Wightman (11).
A made three pointer at the buzzer by
Suzie Green was able to give the Lady Blues the lead 39-38 heading into halftime. In the fourth quarter the score remained close. IC was able to finish strong putting together a 15-0 run to give the Lady Blues their largest lead of the game with the score at 87-70. This would be enough for the Lady Blues to walk away with the win.
IC will travel to take on Beloit College tomorrow 2/13 at 1:00 PM.
