JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted their Senior Day against Lake Forest College on Saturday. The team was able to come away with a hard fought win against the Foresters with a final score of 72-68. This improves IC to 11-9 overall and 7-5 in the MWC.
Before the game, the team took the time to honor their four seniors
Tre Rogers,
Hunter Stockton,
Justin Kellogg, and
Hunter Ottensmeier. The players were greeted by their family members and recognized by the team and the fans for their dedication to the men's basketball program.
Henry Hayer was the team's leading scorer with 21 points. Other double figure scorers included Rogers (13) and Ottensmeier (10).
Jake Mazrimas led the team on the boards totaling 14 rebounds on the day.
IC got off to a hot start after feeding off the momentum from the crowd. The Blueboys started the game with a 14-4 run to jump ahead early. The team maintained this lead throughout the first half standing ahead 46-29 heading into halftime. Lake Forest was able to battle back in the second half to bring the score to 59-58 with the Blueboys leading by just one point.
Hayer proved to be the answer for the Blueboys hitting two timely three-point baskets to increase the team's lead once again. IC would close out the game with some stellar free throw shooting to come away with the victory.
The Blueboys will host Knox College on Tuesday, 2/15 at 5:30 PM.
