JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted Monmouth College in a battle of unbeaten teams in the MWC. IC was able to defeat the Fighting Scots with a final score of 75-60 to improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the MWC.
The Blueboys had four players reach double figures in the big win.
Tre Rogers led the team with a double-double recording 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Jake Mazrimas finished just short of a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Other double-figure scorers included
Buzz Ritzel with 16 points and
Josh Harris with 17 points.
Nestor Daboin was able to make an impact on the boards recording 10 rebounds in the contest.
IC found themselves in a competitive contest early. Both teams traded the lead back and forth in the first half. A made free throw by Ritzel was able to put the team ahead 33-32 at the end of the first half. IC was able to take the momentum in the second half and build a substantial lead.
A made jumper by
Mohammed Fadika would stretch the Blueboys lead to 10 points with 8:53 left in the game. IC was able to continue to produce offensively, putting an exclamation point on the victory with a dunk by Ritzel in the final seconds.
The Blueboys will travel to face Lawrence University on Saturday, 12/10 at 3:00 PM.
