JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College women's basketball team hosted Central College on Tuesday night. The team picked up a big win over the Dutch with a final score of 97-68. This improves the team to 1-3 overall this season.
IC was led by
Lilly Pepper recording a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Other double-digit scorers included
Ashlyn Wightman (18),
Maya Smith (14), and
Anna McKee (14).
The Lady Blues started the game with a 14-5 run after a made layup by
Maya Williams with 4:21 left in the first quarter. Central was able to battle back to cut the lead to just one point on a made free throw with 4:59 left in the second quarter. IC put together another big run at the end of the first half to stand ahead of the Dutch 46-38.
The team maintained their lead for the rest of the contest to claim the win. IC finished the game shooting 57.1% from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc.
The Lady Blues will begin conference play on Tuesday, 11/29 hosting Cornell College at 5:30 PM.
