JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys battled the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in the Championship game of the Bill Merris Tournament on Saturday. IC was able to come away with a victory to win their first Bill Merris Tournament Championship since 2018 with a final score of 81-74. This improves the team to 4-1 overall this season.
Jake Mazrimas and
Josh Harris were both named to the All-Tournament team for their performances in the two games. Harris had an exceptional night leading the Blueboys with a career-high 30 points. Mazrimas earned another double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.Â
The game proved to be a close one with both teams trading the lead. IC was able to end the first half on an 11-5 run to stand ahead 41-34 heading into halftime.Â
In the second half, the contest remained close. A made three-pointer by Jacob Stoltz cut the IC lead to 76-73 with 1:29 remaining in the game. IC was able to put the game out of reach at the free-throw line to come away with the win.Â
The Blueboys will return to action hosting Illinois Institute of Technology on Wednesday, 11/23 at 3:00 PM.Â
