GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College football team traveled to face Knox College on Saturday. The Blueboys picked up a win defeating the Prairie Fire with a final of 20-10. This improves the team to 3-4 overall and 2-4 in the MWC.
IC was led by
Elijah Pollice at quarterback with 167 yards passing and two touchdowns through the air. Pollice was also the team's lead rusher with 50 yards in the game.
KJ Corley led the receivers with six catches for 84 yards and a receiving touchdown.
The defense was led by
Drake Stuart and
Thomas Kaesberg recording seven tackles each. IC was able to record three takeaways with
Eugene Williba,
Keane Shaw, and Stuart totaling three interceptions for the Blueboys.
Knox would get on the board first with a field goal in the first quarter to take an early lead. Pollice connected with Colin Brunstein on a 30-yard touchdown reception to put IC ahead 7-3.
Pollice linked up with his other star receiver on a 21-yard reception to Corley to extend the Blueboys lead.
Toby McTamney would add a field goal at the end of the second quarter to make the score 17-3 heading into halftime.
IC's defense was able to hold off the Prairie Fire to claim the Blueboys second MWC win of the season.
The team will continue their MWC schedule hosting Cornell College on Friday, 10/28 at 7:00 PM.
